The Quantum Saloon is one of the few full four seater kit cars available. Stylish lines and sports performance are combined with the ability to seat four adults in absolute comfort
- this is not achieved merely at the expense of luggage space, as the saloon also has an extensive boot. The rear seats fold down, with a 60/40 split for extra flexibility, and the car can be built with or without a parcel shelf, so there is even space for the family dog.
Due to the fact that the saloon is most frequently used as an every day car, it is not unusual to hear reports of the cars that have covered over 100,000 miles as a Quantum. This has lead to the fitment of a diesel 1800 (or 1800 turbo) being a popular option. Even though there was a 1600 diesel version for the MK2 Fiesta, one of the advantages of the use of Ford components is the interchangeability between ranges - hence an Escort 1800 diesel or turbo diesel is very straightforward to fit.
The GRP monocoque construction is immensely strong, as well as begin lighter and more aerodynamic that the parent XR2. There are a few Quantum Owners who believe their Quantum Saloon saved their lives due to their strength and how the bodyshell protected them in huge accidents. Performance, handling and economy all achieve favourable comparison with the parent Ford Fiesta Mk1 and Mk 2 - not to mention the vast improvement in style!
