Quantum Tour 2013 - Upadate
The French tour is postponed until 2014, but the QOC are planning to run a tour though Wales over these same dates. Check back for further details coming soon.
Wednesday 15th May 2013
We gather at Portsmouth ferry terminal to take the Brittany ferries 22.45 sailing to Caen. Overnight crossing with an en-suit cabin, arriving in France at 06.45
Thursday 16th May 2013
We make our way south, some 275 miles. With stops for lunch and other rest stops, we get to La Rochelle at around 4pm. Check into hotel, get a meal then overnight.
Friday 17th May 2013
Depart hotel next morning 09.30 for a steady drive further south. With more rest breaks and refuelling stops, around 260 miles, getting to into Oloron-Sainte-Marie approximately 5pm, for our second hotel overnight.
Saturday 18th May 2013
After breakfast we check out and get on the road again about 09.00. Heading south east into the Pyrenees, to enjoy a day driving mountain roads. Shortly after a lunch stop we will then turn north, driving for approximately 2 hours. We get to Barrusclet farmhouse near Gondrin, for a 7-night stay at the beautifully refurbished house. Facilities include heated swimming pool and a games room, all set in 40 acres of farmland.
Touring locally, but not everyday and taking plenty of time to relax in the quite French countryside.
Saturday 25th May 2012
Around 09.00/09.30 we leave Barrusclet heading east, arriving for a late lunch stop at the Millau bridge visitor centre. After a while admiring this British designed marvel of civil engineering, we follow a route looping up and around onto the aforementioned structure. Heading north to Clermont- Ferrand for an evening meal and overnight accommodation.
Sunday 26th May 2012
After breakfast we continue on our way northwards, to catch the overnight ferry from the port of Caen. With stops for lunch, dinner and refuelling, we should arrive in good time to board.
Monday 27th May
We will arrive back in the UK at 06.45. This Monday is a bank holiday in the UK.
This is a round trip of approximately 1500 miles.
The cost £425.00 per person covers ferry and accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis but excluding fuel, tolls, lunch, evening meals and drinks, based on two people per car and sharing a twin or double room.
Please contact Carole or Geoff Ward to book your place on this trip as we will need to confirm all the accommodation and ferry crossings in early January. We think that a 10 car maximum would be in order (if we get 10 we can get a reduced rate on the crossings). We will need a deposit, paid to the club, in January. But if not enough members have expressed an interest by the end of December, we will not proceed with this tour.
